| Who Are We and Why Are We Here? |
In our opinion the Hexic forum at xbox.com is one of the best communities you'll find at xbox.com in terms of the camaraderie and willingness of the experienced players to help those learning the game. There are, however, some limitations of the xbox.com forum: if you look at the pinned help threads you'll find many requests for pictures and videos to explain the ideas and techniques we're trying to describe. Sadly, on xbox.com we can't embed images or video to demonstrate specific aspects of Hexic that are quite difficult to describe with words alone. This is the first reason why we have created Hexic.info. The second is that since none of us is a moderator there, we can't update our guides as we learn more about the game.
The simple fact is that our collective understanding of what is possible in Hexic has undergone profound changes several times. First we thought making as many pearls as possible was the way to the highest score. Then we learned that six-multiplier flowers could be repeated indefinitely for much higher scores. Then we learned that MMCs could make multi-million-point scores after a single move (albeit with a lot of preparation). Then we learned that the combination of different-color multipliers into the MMC would yield multi-billion point moves. And now we're moving toward understanding how we can score much, much higher than this. Is Aoki's 300 billion+ MMC the limit of what Hexic has to offer? We still don't know for sure. We don't know if someone with even greater creativity than Aoki is going to come along and see how it's possible to score a trillion points at a time.
Each of these changes in our understanding of Hexic has made us want to revise and update our guides and discussions of the game. But keeping up to date the documents some of us have worked so hard on is very challenging given the tools xbox.com offers non-moderators. Don't get us wrong: these limitations at xbox.com are in place for very sound reasons, and as forum users we all benefit from them. But at the same time, we who try to help the Hexic community by sharing what we've learned simply need more control over how we communicate and discuss what we know. So here we are at Hexic.info. We've placed useful pictures and videos of different Hexic principles and situations right where you need to see them. And unlike when threads die at the forum, this information will always be accessible, easy to find, and as up to date as we can keep it.
We are all still available at the xbox.com Hexic forum for discussion and advice, and we hope our efforts here at Hexic.info will enrich the Hexic community and increase your enjoyment of this fantastic game!
